2025 promises to be an exciting year in Perthshire. The profile of events in the region is growing, and more tourists are heading in our direction to enjoy the delights of our special region.
The Scone Palace International Horse Trials perfectly demonstrate how Perthshire successfully hosts globally renowned events. The third largest equestrian event in the world, the horse trials will be held for the first time at Scone Palace in August 2025.
It was decided earlier in the year that the 35th Blair Castle International Horse Trials would be the last at this venue. Keen to keep the event in Perthshire, Scone Palace stepped in.
William Murray, Viscount Stormont of Scone Palace, said –
“Perth Racecourse and the parkland at Scone Palace are a fantastic setting for this new international event. The parkland has a long history of hosting eventing competitions, and we know that many Scottish equestrians have fond memories of eventing here. We are delighted to build on the legacy of Blair Castle and bring a new event to new generations for decades to come.
“Equally, we are pleased to introduce the facilities at Perth Racecourse to a new international event and to deploy the team to produce a best-in-class eventing surface. We must also acknowledge the Troughton family and everyone at Blair Castle for delivering 35 years of world-class eventing.”
With over 2000 horses in attendance, 5000 bed nights in and around Perth, and £3 million injected into the local economy, this is a significant opportunity for Perthshire.
Meetings Perthshire venue, Perth Racecourse will play a significant role and the Scone Palace setting will provide a stunning location for this world-class event. As Blair Castle achieved over its 35-year tenure, Scone Palace promises to keep pushing the event to the next level. A celebration of everything Perthshire is expected, with 250 shops and food establishments offering the best of local produce.
On the one hand, the horse trials will stage a significant sporting event in the region, whilst on the other, it will be a festival of the very best of Perthshire. Scone Palace is also the new home of the Scottish Grassroots Championship further demonstrating the importance of the event in the equestrian world.
