Errichel
Established in 1997, Errichel is a rare-breeds hill farm that also welcomes guests to eat, shop and stay. Situated in Highland Perthshire near the picturesque town of Aberfeldy, the business is run by husband and wife team, Paul and Rebecca Newman. Guests can stay in a variety of accomodation, including various four-star self-catering cottages, and six four-star bed and breakfast rooms situated in the main farmhouse. The site is surrounded by sweeping views across the Tay Valley toward the Grampian Mountains.
Chef Paul Newman
Named ‘Chef of the Year’ at The Scottish Menu Awards in 2018, Paul Newman has run teams of chefs for some of the biggest global names in the hospitality industry. Having spent a considerable part of his career overseas, especially on the continent of Africa, Paul’s cooking is heavily influenced by the flavours from around Africa, as well as the Mediteranean. A fierce advocate of food provenance and the slow food movement, Errichel has allowed Paul to put his philosphy into action, with ethically reared livestock including Shetland Cattle and Large Black Pigs utilised in many of the dishes served at Errichel. Paul also produces a range of foods, including home-reared biltong and pastrami, and award-winning pickles, preserves, and chutneys.
Thyme Deli & Bistro
In August 2020, Errichel launched Thyme Delicatessen & Bistro, offering informal dining and coffee, along with a shopping experience occupying the farmhouse’s beamed former kitchen.
Products offered include local produce, including Paul’s own range of foods, as well as international staples.
Hampers
Soon after launching Thyme Deli, customers began requesting Errichel hampers. With the team only too happy to oblige, hampers quickly became a speciality. Hampers are available in a wide variety of specifications, and often include Paul Newman’s own farm-reared or home-made produce. Each hamper has a gold-blocked front panel proudly bearing the Errichel name, and highlighting the Perthshire origins of the hamper. An Errichel hamper is the perfect gift to complement an event in Perthshire, or to bring a ‘taste’ of Highland Perthshire to a videocall based event. Errichel also handle large orders for corporate gifting, especially around Christmastime.
