The variety and quality of experience on offer in Perthshire is no more evident than with its food and drink. Scotland’s Larder has the finest produce thanks to Perthshire’s fertile land. With its beef, lamb, and venison, fish from the Tay, the best berries, and a range of amazing fresh vegetables, it’s no surprise that Scotland’s only two star Michelin restaurants are in Perthshire.

Perthshire Has Two, Two Star Michelin Restaurants

Both Restaurant Andrew Fairlie and The Glenturret Lalique Restaurant retained their two stars earlier this week, cementing their position amongst the most-respected dining experiences in Great Britain & Ireland.

Restaurant Andrew Fairlie

Restaurant Andrew Fairlie was opened by local boy, Andrew Fairlie in 2001. Receiving its first star after eight months, the second was awarded in 2006. Located in the heart of Meetings Perthshire venue, Gleneagles, the restaurant soon gained a reputation for its use of local and seasonal ingredients. The restaurant’s ‘Secret Garden’, in Forgandenny, Perthshire, grows a variety of the best produce, allowing the restaurant to create the freshest and most inventive dishes.

Andrew was the first winner of the Roux Scholarship, and was Head Chef at One Devonshire Gardens, which won Glasgow’s first Michelin star in 1994. The intimate, refined, yet knowledgeable and friendly restaurant is a wonderful way to end a small event, or meeting. However, early booking is advisable.

The Glenturret Lalique Restaurant

Situated at Glenturret Distillery, overlooking the River Turret, in the foothills of the Scottish Highlands, The Glenturret Lalique Restaurant achieved its first Michelin star just after opening in 2021. Fast forward to 2024, and the second star was awarded, joining its sister restaurants, Lafaurie Peyraguey in Bordeaux and Villa Rene Lalique in Alsace.

Its distillery location is recognised in the cuisine, with notes to the distillation process running through the dishes. Once again, the restaurant can thank Perthshire’s rich produce. The team work directly with artisanal growers, producers, breeders and fishers, often foraging themselves. With the distillery on hand for tastings and tours, a Glenturret experience is a unique opportunity to learn about the ‘water of life’, alongside a culinary masterclass.
