Spotlight on…Willowgate Activity Centre

“Willowgate Activity Centre’s Lead instructor, Sam talks about his role”

  • About my role –

As lead instructor I tend to look after larger groups, corporate events, and most of the ASN groups we have running at the centre and I support the centre by checking kit, Maintenance, supporting our instructors and duty manager role.

  • What I enjoy about my job –

I enjoy meeting new people that share my enjoyment and interest in the outdoors. I wake up every morning before work excited by what the day will bring! No two days are the same

  • What makes Willowgate special –

Because of our ambition and hunger to create a really fun and current centre for all to enjoy no matter what their ability/experience is. Willowgate is still in infancy as a centre and is forever growing and improving, and it’s super enjoyable being in an environment where new activities are added each year and it allows the instructors to keep learning and growing as well.

  • What exciting things are coming up for myself and Willowgate –

This year Willowgate became a Duke of Edinburgh Provider which means we can guide young people through their awards no matter the level and allows myself and other members of staff to train and become Expedition assessors.

We are also introducing White water Paddleboarding and Kayak which is great as we will be exploring more of what Perthshire has to offer and this is great as this allows me to gain qualifications for White water paddleboard coach and White-water kayak leader.”
