Community cast auditions for Perth Theatre Panto Aladdin
Perth Theatre is looking for community cast members to join the professional company for this year’s family panto Aladdin. Panto dame Barrie Hunter and his pals are calling for anyone over 18 who loves to sing, dance and perform to apply to audition for ensemble roles in Aladdin on Saturday 26 August.
Barrie Hunter who will be writing and directing Aladdin as well as playing Aladdin’s mammy Widow McTwankie said:
“We are totally delighted to, once again, be on the hunt for a crack team of Community Company performers to join us for this year’s Perth Theatre panto Aladdin! We can’t wait to assemble an all-singing, all-dancing troupe to help us in our quest to tell Aladdin’s tale to the wonderful Perth Theatre audiences again.
The successful applicants will be called into action as the local population of the McTwankie’s wee highland village, Vranknock! There is also the possibility of them “squirrelling” about in the forests of Glen Spankie, by the shores of the River Bankie (in the shadow of Beinn Vrankie)!
We need you to help us battle the evil Abi McKrankie (the alleged Countess of Killiecrankie), so come and join us for all the fun and frolics at Perth Theatre… your panto needs YOU!!!”
Past community cast members have been sharing the joy of taking part in panto saying:
“Performing on the Perth Theatre stage is the biggest highlight within itself. I’d do it every single day.”
“We really felt an important part of the show this year and an equal in the whole process.”
“I felt supported through rehearsals and there was no doubt on what was required. I’m grateful so much trust was put in us to deliver.”
“My best part was meeting new people and the bond that we all had, I have definitely made friends for life.”
The mother of Aladdin, who’s the brother of wee Hank E, Widow McTwankie’s mobile laundry business is going doon the stankie. Abigail McKrankie, the Countess of Killiekrankie has cancelled her contracts and wants Aladdin to find the cave so she’ll be uber-rich and swanky.
Join Aladdin and his family as they get in a spin trying to keep the laundry going under very trying circumstances and meet some others along the way. Who is this young woman who’s arrived in the village, looking for her back story? Is that the sound of chainsaws in the forest? Are those really giant red squirrels coming out of the trees? And who on earth is Jeannie?
No doubt the answers will come out in the wash at this year’s Perth Theatre panto!
