Getting to Perthshire

Perthshire is the heart of Scotland. The region provides the best of urban and rural life.

On the banks of the River Tay, Perth is home to restaurants, bars, concert halls, theatres, museums and castles.

In the country, Perthshire is known for its produce, it’s Big Tree Country, and its rivers are mighty.

The very best of Scotland is nicely packaged in one accessible region.

By Road

From the south, the A9 and M90 run through the region. It is only an hour from Glasgow, and a little over an hour from Edinburgh to Perth. Meanwhile Aberdeen is under two hours, and Inverness under three.

By Train

If you’d rather not jump in the car, it is a similar time by train from Glasgow and Edinburgh as it is driving.  There is also a direct train from King’s Cross to Perth, which takes just under six hours.  For the more adventurous, there is the Caledonian Sleeper. Dinner in London, breakfast in Perth.

By Plane

If you are coming from further afield, there is a choice of three airports. Edinburgh airport is 50 minutes from Perth. Glasgow airport is just over an hour. The closest is Dundee airport, only 20 miles away and 25 minutes.
