Hampers laden with Deli delights

Hampers laden with Perthshire perfection from Thyme Deli at Errichel – the perfect corporate Christmas gift

Since opening their farm Deli & Bistro in the Summer of lock-down, Paul and Becky Newman of Errichel have uncovered a rising corporate demand for hampers with a distinctly local flavour.

Situated a short drive above picturesque Aberfeldy, Errichel is a working farm that invites visitors to eat, shop and stay. Chef-Patron Paul makes his own ethically-reared biltong, as well as chutneys, and preserves, on-site. We asked Paul & Becky how they found themselves knee deep in ribbons, boxes, and stuffing!

Meetings Perthshire(MP): When did you realise that hampers were going to be a big part of your business?

Becky Newman (BN): We’d only been open a short while when we were asked to create our first hamper, which loved doing. I’ve always communicated personally with our customers as I would with a friend, so creating a bespoke hamper came naturally. This lead to more and more orders and it snowballed, with large Christmas orders from companies who wanted to treat clients and employees. During lock-down, opening the hampers together on Zoom was a lovely way for some companies to celebrate together. Who doesn’t love to receive a delicious hamper for a celebration?

MP: What’s new on the hamper front this year?

Paul Newman (PN): Our hampers already had a distinctive Perthshire feel, with local suppliers like Aberfeldy whisky, as well as my own biltong and preserves, but we wanted them to be instantly identifiable as an ‘Errichel’ hamper – so that those receiving them get a real sense of place. So we’ve now invested in new high-end packaging, carried across our hamper range. We’re biased, but we think they look great, and would grace any Christmas tree!

MP: What makes a great hamper?

BN: That first ‘wow factor’ is important, but the contents must be delicious and have a good shelf life. We’ll use produce from all over the UK and further afield where important, but thankfully we have so many amazing local suppliers that our hampers are laden with Perthshire-produced goodies from the likes of Persie Gin Distillery, Charlotte Flower Chocolates, Kenmore Bakery, and Glen Lyon Coffee. Hopefully they have real substance and are full of favourites that people haven’t discovered yet!
