Dior Returns To Gleneagles

Gleneagles

It is likely that Maria Grazia Chiuri only had eyes on one venue to launch this year’s Dior Collection. It was in 1951 that Christian Dior first fell in love with Scotland, when he launched his Spring/Summer Collection. Almost 70 years since a charity fashion show graced the Gleneagles Ballroom with 172 haute couture dresses, Dior returned to Perthshire.

Chiuri, Creative Director at Dior, this year, was heavily influenced by Scotland. Her emphasis is always on global fashion, and the collection launched in Scotland brought together knowledge from local craft and used traditional clothing techniques, including the treadle looms of Harris Tweed.

For an iconic brand such as Dior to head back to Perthshire emphasises the appeal and possibility of the region. There is no doubt that the spectacular scenery, traditions, culture and history, played an important part in Dior’s venue decision.

This time, the Gleneagles Ballroom was not home to Dior’s catwalk. This honour was bestowed upon the unique surrounding of Drummond Castle. The gardens date back to the 17th century and represent one of Europe’s most impressive formal gardens. Famously, Drummond stood in for the Palace of Versailles in the recent Outlander series.

The catwalk was replaced by the Drummond Castle steps, as the models descended to the garden, where they graced the paths weaving amongst the stunning flora. This was Dior’s 2025 Cruise Collection where tartan fabrics were mixed with contemporary Punk vibes, plenty of medieval and Tudor influences, together with nods to the 1955 event. The setting was befitting of this extraordinary event, as images of Perthshire’s beauty were beamed globally.

Back at Gleneagles, a selection of the 1950s collection had been painstakingly restored and displayed in the Ballroom, alongside the story of Dior’s link to Scotland. Celebrities were in attendance too, from Oscar-winner, Jennifer Lawrence, Golden Globe-winner, Rosamund Pike, to British tennis player, Emma Raducanu, and ex-Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell-Horner.
